George D. Shoots, 76, of New Albany passed away Wednesday evening at his home in surrounded by his family. He was born in Carrollton, Kentucky to the late Granville and Mary (Wilson) Shoots. He was retired after many years as an over the road truck driver with various trucking companies.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dianne Shoots; his brother Bob Shoots (Gayle); sisters Evelyn Tuttle (Walter) and Marilyn Dell; brother Junnie Shoots; daughter Denise French (Scott); son Robert Harrell; daughter Sherri McCurdy and son George M. Shoots; his grandchildren Ashley Donaldson (Levi), Collin Duvall (Kristine) and Kellen and great-grandson Carter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter Katie and his brother James.
Visitation will be from 1 – 8 PM Friday and after 9 AM Saturday at the Oak Street Chapel of Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes (1846 E. Oak St.)
His funeral service will be held at 11 AM Saturday in the Oak Street Chapel with burial to follow in Sellersburg Cemetery.
