Joseph Lyle Thomas, Sr., 89, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana went to meet his Savior on Saturday at Green Valley Care Center. He was a native of Rineyville, Kentucky. Lyle was an insurance manager and salesman for National Life, American General and Jefferson Pilot for 38 years. He was also a member of St. Mary Navilleton Catholic Church and lifelong advocate for the unborn. Lyle had a passion for rabbit hunting, fishing and charity work. He volunteered for St. Mary’s New Albany Soup Kitchen and for Hosparus of Southern Indiana for over 14 years. Preceded in death by: first wife of 20 years – Margaret McCue Thomas; great grandchild – Elijah Thomas; brother – Ronald Thomas; sisters – Violet Lashley, Mavis Neuner, Nellie Mae Miller; parents – Charles Aud and Mary Elizabeth (Mattingly) Thomas. Survivors: wife of 47 years – Joan Seipp Knable Thomas; Children – Vicki and Rick Knable, Joe Thomas, Jr. (Carol), Larry Thomas (Susan), Cheri Knable Bierman (Daniel), Chris Knable Franz (Jeff), Dennis Thomas (April), John Knable (Dynene), 21 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren; brother - Charles Thomas, Jr.; sisters – Regina Barnes, Uldine Skees. Visitation: 1 – 8 pm Thursday at the Market Street Chapel of Seabrook Dieckmann & Naville Funeral Homes (Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes). Service: 10 am Friday at St. Mary’s Navilleton Catholic Church, Floyds Knobs, Indiana. Interment: St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, New Albany, Indiana. Expressions: Right To Life or Hosparus of Southern Indiana.
