Leonard W. Hampton Sr., 84, of New Albany died early Friday morning at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital in New Albany, He was born in Adair County, Kentucky to the late Hiram and Zelma (Gum) Hampton. He was retired from the Laborers Union #795 in New Albany and was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 3281 and Bonnie Sloan Post# 28 in New Albany. He was a member of Cornerstone Church in Floyds Knobs, Indiana.
Survivors include his companion of 20 years Lois Trumbull; her children Kim, Brenda, Cindy and their families; his son Wayne Hampton (Doris); step-son Mike Wilson (Liz); step-daughters Nancy Stumler (Melvin) and Mary Jefferies (Clark); sisters Susie Spears (Thomas) and Carolyn Wesner (Randy); numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his wife Anna J. (O'Leary) Hampton; step-son Joe Wilson; his brother Randall Hampton and his sister Bobbie Hampton.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday May 28, 2019 at the Market Street Chapel of Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes (1119 E. Market St. New Albany, IN.)
Burial with military honors will immediately follow at St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic Cemetery, Floyds Knobs, Indiana.
