Sandra J. Gilliam Kime passed away Sunday at Kindred Hospital in Louisville. She was born on June 10th, 1938 in Springfield, Ohio. She attended elementary and high school in Anderson, Indiana before going on to study at Purdue University and Indiana University, obtaining an Associate’s Degree. She retired from Floyd County School Corporation after working for 30 years, specializing in the special education services.
Along with her enjoyment of arts, crafts and music, Sandra was very involved with recovery services. She and Bill, her husband of 25 years, shared their love for travel throughout the United States and organized an entire displacement camp from the ground up during the Hurricane Katrina disaster.
Sandra is survived by her husband – William “Bill” Kime; daughters - Pamela Huckabone (Kevin) & Karin Cornell (Ken); son - Eric Wyss (Sherry); step-son – William Edward Kime Jr.; step-daughter – Diana Gail Clifford (Elmer); 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Opal Gilliam and her beloved younger sister, Marcia Kay Stanley.
Her life was a testament to the strength of women who give their all with a positive attitude. She approached life with a spirit of kindness and a truly loving heart.
Visitation will be held on Friday, 2–6 PM at the Market Street Chapel of Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes (1119 E. Market St., New Albany) and Saturday, 9-11 AM at Mount Tabor Presbyterian Church (918 Mount Tabor Road) with service to follow at 11 AM. She will be buried at Mount Tabor Cemetery.
