Gary Lee Kelly, 72, passed away Monday May 25, 2020. He was born in Madison, Indiana and started his radio career at WJCD in Seymour, IN. where he met his wife Sally. He then moved to New Albany where he worked for the WREY Radio Station before moving to New Albany High School and WNAS where he was “The Voice of the Bulldogs” for over 40 years. Lee was a graduate of Silver Creek High School and in his younger days, he coached swimming at the old Colonial Club Swimming Pool, and coached baseball for the New Albany Little League where he was the “Caretaker of the Fields”. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was preceded in death by his son: Joshua Devin Kelly, his parents: Tom and Betty Kelly, his nephew: Travis Kelly and his brother-in-law: Jon Akers.
Lee is survived by his wife of 50 years: Sally Milroy Kelly,
His daughter: Dena Kelly-Brooner (Larry),
4 Grandchildren: Brynnen Kelly, Lennon, MacKennon and Finnien Kelly-Brooner,
1 Great Grandchild on the way,
his brother: Tim Kelly(Paula),
3 sisters: Donna Ahlbrand(Tony), Bonny Akers and Teresa Ozdogu (Deniz),
several nieces and nephews, all of his beloved former students, and Becky.
Lee’s arrangements have been entrusted to the Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes.
A public visitation will be held from 1 - 7 PM Wednesday(June 3, 2020) and from 11 AM - 1 PM Thursday(June 4, 2020) at Grace Lutheran Church: (1787 Klerner Lane: New Albany, IN.)
Due to the COVID Pandemic and the requirements of social distancing, Lee's Celebration of Life Service will be held privately at the Church.
In honor of Lee's memory, the family has requested that you wear your favorite WNAS Red and Black attire to the Church.
