Helen A. Sajko, 96, of New Albany,Indiana, formerly of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away Thursday evening at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital. She was a lab technician who assisted in establishing the lab at Floyd Memorial Hospital (now known as Baptist Health Floyd). She worked for various doctors’ offices and hospitals. Helen was a high school substitute teacher, co-owner of the original Dairy Queen in New Albany, a housewife and mother. She was a member of Kappa Sorority at Indiana State University, Tri Kappa Sorority, Who’s New, a charter member for 37 years of the Kentuckiana Herb Society and volunteered at the Falls of the Ohio helping to maintain their herb garden, (she loved gardening!). She enjoyed her monthly social group Fort Nightly. Helen was a member of Maplewood Christian Church in Terre Haute, Indiana and attended Central Christian Church in New Albany.
Helen is survived by her two children, Cara L. Sajko and Craig A. Sajko. She is preceded in death by her husband, Stanley J. “Stan” Sajko and her parents, Stephen E. and Gladys Mabel Wools.
Visitation will be held at the Market Street chapel of Naville & Seabrook Funeral Home Tuesday July 21, 2020 3-8 pm and Wednesday July 22nd 10-11:30am. The Funeral service will be held Wednesday July 22nd,11:30 am at the Funeral home. Internment will be Thursday July 23rd at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute, Indiana. Masks are required at the visitation and funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, donations be made in Helen’s name to the Falls of the Ohio Foundation or the Kentuckiana Herb Society for the Corydon Old Capital Herb Garden at the Historic Governor Hendrick's House.
