Mark S. Real

August 18, 1954 ~ January 30, 2019 (age 64)

Mark S. Real, 64, of New Albany, Indiana passed away Wednesday at home with his family.

Mark was a retired, AICP-certified Military Planner who served the Army Corps of Engineers for 39 years. He was a graduate of Purdue University (’78) where he was a champion of the Spitzer Court Olympics. “Pops” was an avid farmer, devoted Boiler fan, and adored grandfather. He was a longtime member of Silver Street United Methodist Church in New Albany.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Marijane Real. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Patty Horne Real; his daughters, Amanda Real and Bonnie Brown Real (Colin); his grandchildren, Azaria, Zion, Ezra and Zuri Taylor, and Glendora and Alan Brown; his brother John Real (Tiffani); his sister Robin Ruckman (Jean); his Cary A family; and several alpacas.

A funeral service celebrating Mark's life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 6 at Silver Street United Methodist Church. Burial will be Wednesday at Valeene Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Oak Street Chapel of Naville & Seabrook (1846 E. Oak St.) from 2 - 8 p.m. Tuesday.
