Martha J. (Sandbach) Carpenter, 82, of New Albany passed away Friday evening at Autumn Woods Health Campus in New Albany. She was a born in New Albany to the late Raymond and Jeanette (Bennett) Sandbach and was the former owner of the old Carpenters Market. She was primarily a homemaker and was a longtime member of Main Street United Methodist Church in New Albany.
Survivors include her son Scott Lee Carpenter (Gina); her daughter Paula K. Carpenter; sisters Janet Rynerson, Marilyn Martin (Ronnie) and Peggy Whiteman (Kevin); her grandchildren Sarah Birge (Blaire), Scott Carpenter Jr. (Sally) and Jillian Carpenter; her great-grandchildren Nora, Winnie and Ellie Mae.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul Carpenter, her granddaughter Rebecca Carpenter and brother-in-law Dick Rynerson.
Visitation will be from 1-8 PM Tuesday and 9-11 AM Wednesday at the Market Street Chapel of Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes (1119 E. Market St. New Albany).
Her funeral service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday in the Market Street Chapel.
Burial will be in SCI-Graceland Memorial Park in New Albany.
